The Department of English came into existence with the establishment of the college in 1960. English as a subject in B.A. remained the first choice of students from the establishment of the college.

The department has a rich tradition of teaching English Literature by dedicated and sincere faculties. Due to increasing demand of the students for M.A. in English the department started the M.A. in English from July 2003. The courses of U.G. and P.G. are based on the guidelines of Dr. Rammanohar Lohia Avadh University, Faizabad and keep renewing after every three to five years as per the university directives. The department has a language lab which helps the students to enhance their speaking and listening skills.

To provide appropriate Pedagogies and favourable environment to students that will help in making them better and responsible citizen of the world.

To help them in enhancing their communication skills and make them competent to perform various professional activities.

To encourage the students for creative writing (as poems, short stories, Essays etc.)

To establish a research wing for the P.G. students.

To enrich the Department in ICT and development of E- contents for P.G. and U.G. classes.

To organise online quizzes webinars seminars etc. to make students aware about the developments in the field of English Literature.
