The Department of Physics was established in 1964 in Kisan Post Graduate College Bahraich. First to be permanently selected in physics department was Dr. Manik Singh Ji, who was appointed in 04.08.1964 permanently in the department. After this, Dr. Raj Mani Verma was permanently appointed in this Department in 1966 and Dr. B. N. Tiwari was permanently appointed in 1968.This first head of the department was Dr. Manik Singh.

Shri Kishun Bir was permanently appointed on 17.07.2007 after Dr. B. N. Tiwari retired in June 2007. The masters of Physics Classes in Physics Department started in 1999 under self-funded scheme. Mr. Devendra Kumar Mishra was appointed as an approved teacher in the department of Physics on 15.03.2013 under self-funded scheme, subsequently on 12.05.2017, under the self-funded scheme, Mr. Akhilesh Kumar Upadhyay working till date as an approved teacher.

The vision of our department is to provide an opportunity for the students to deepen his knowledge in the branch of physics so that views on the outkirts of science.

The mission of department is to provide students who will make wide range of carrier Choice with an outstanding learning experience in which they develop strong analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills with a deep appreciation of the roll of physics in technical innovation.
